Unit­ed States Vice Pres­i­dent Joe Biden ar­rived in T&T at about 8.25 pm last night. Some 20 min­utes lat­er, he emerged from Air­force 2 wav­ing to all those present in the south ter­mi­nal at the old Pi­ar­co Air­port.

As Biden and his wife, Dr Jill Biden, stepped off the air­craft, they were met by the US Charge d'Af­faires, Thomas Smitham, and Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar.The T&T De­fence Force Band then played the na­tion­al an­thems of both coun­tries and Biden was then in­tro­duced to At­tor­ney Gen­er­al Anand Ram­lo­gan and all the Cab­i­net Min­is­ters by Per­sad-Bisses­sar.

The US Vice Pres­i­dent then in­spect­ed a guard of ho­n­our to the mu­sic of Ras Shorty I's Who God Bless played by T&T De­fence Force Steel Or­ches­tra.Biden was then hus­tled to his ve­hi­cle and tak­en to the Hy­att Re­gency ho­tel in Port-of-Spain. The US VP will have a hec­tic day to­day as he meets with Per­sad-Bisses­sar and oth­er Cari­com lead­ers to dis­cuss is­sues re­lat­ed to se­cu­ri­ty, en­er­gy and busi­ness.
