All options are on the table. That's the word from Independent Liberal Party chairman Robin Montano yesterday, when asked if the ILP would pursue its leader Jack Warner's wish to join the ruling partnership.Montano said the ILP's executive meets this afternoon after a luncheon and press conference to discuss the way forward."We have to consider what is in the best interests of the membership and T&T," Montano added.
He said since Monday's by-election victory, ILP applications have tripled and the party has received applications from UNC members from all over the country, including Pointe-a-Pierre, which is held by government MP Errol McLeod, and also COP councillors. However, St Joseph MP Herbert Volney, who resigned from the UNC, said yesterday that Warner should make a clean break from the PP and not seek to rejoin it.
"Because," he said, "they have no intention of cleaning up their act. If they make overtures to him to return, he should have conditions, such as certain ministers have to be fired for bringing the Government into disrepute."
