"Cut Down by Terrorism"
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has extended condolences to the family of Ravindra Ramrattan, a TT national who was among those killed by gunmen in a shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya on Sunday.
"Over the years, we have heard where our nationals, serving in various capacities, were violently killed. Here was a young man, approaching 30 years old, with a bright future, cut down by terrorism. May he rest in peace."
The PM put the killing in the context of the global TT Diaspora. She referenced the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre towers in New York in which "fourteen Trinidad and Tobago nationals died".
According to the Associated Press, Kenyan officials said security forces had regained control nearly all of an upscale mall on Monday, two days after it was seized by members of a Somali terrorist group who invaded with guns blazing, killing at least 62 people.
