Man killed crossing PBR
Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man who was knocked down and killed while crossing the Priority Bus Route (PBR) near Macoya Gardens on Sunday. He got out of a maxi-taxi around 3.30 pm and was hit by a car heading west. The 37-year-old driver of the car, who lives on the Eastern Main Road in Curepe, stopped to help the victim. The victim, who is said to be in his late teens or early 20s, was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope where he died while being treated. Investigators said the victim is of African descent and was wearing black three-quarter jeans and a black T-shirt. Anyone with information which may help identify him is asked to contact Tunapuna police at 662-4978.
Woman drowns in Aripo River
Police are investigating the death of a 27-year-old Arima woman who drowned during a family lime at the Aripo River, on Sunday afternoon. Police said around 4 pm, Delka Wesley, from Wallerfield Road, Arima, was liming with relatives at the river, when she dived in and did not resurface. Relatives went to her assistance and managed to bring her body out of the water. Wesley’s relatives tried to resuscitate her but were unsuccessful. She was taken to the Sangre Grande District Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Investigators believe Wesley may have hit her head on a rock when she dived into the water.
