Derrick Lewis to chat at T&T's first Startup Grind
Trinidad and Tobago is having its first Startup Grind event on October 3. Derrick Lewis from ISLANDpeople will lead a conversation on entrepreneurship at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Westmoorings from 5 pm.
Startup Grind is a monthly social networking event for entrepreneurs. At the Startup Grind events, successful entrepreneur share the secrets of their success.
"Unlike other events, where the guest speaker gives a speech or a presentation, at Startup Grind, the guest entrepreneur chats with the moderator and the audience about what worked, what didn’t and what they’ll do differently next time," said a release from Gerard Thomas, Country Director for Startup Grind Trinidad and Tobago.
Thomas will moderate Thursday's session.
Videos of the chat sessions are made available on the global Startup Grind website.
WHAT IS STARTUP GRIND:
THE GLOBAL NETWORK: Startup Grinds are hosted in more than 50 cities and 20 countries, featuring successful local entrepreneurs, innovators, educators and investors who share personal stories and lessons learned. Our global objective is to educate, inspire, and connect entrepreneurs through these events.
EVENT SCHEDULE: Startup Grind will be held every month, and each event will be 3 hours. The first hour is for networking and socializing, the second is for the guest entrepreneur, and the third is for networking and socializing (drinks provided throughout the event).
WHY BRING STARTUP GRIND TO TRINIDAD & TOBAGO:
- To inspire and educate future entrepreneurs, through successful local entrepreneurs, in a relaxed social forum.
- To build a very strong, supportive and resourceful startup community.
- To create the first public entrepreneurial-story video catalogue of our local entrepreneurs.
- To raise the profile of our local entrepreneurs to show them to the world.
WHY SHOULD PEOPLE ATTEND: The fastest way to learn is from those who have done what you are trying to achieve. Therefore, anyone who is trying to build a business, especially in the business sectors of our guest entrepreneurs, should attend. Startup Grind is also ideal for people who want to build relationships with likeminded entrepreneurs and business people.
