Police are investigating the murder of a 62-year-old man from Morvant, who died hours after being in a fight with another man.According to police reports, around 3 pm, Robert Swan was discovered dead on his bed at his Lady Young Avenue, Morvant, home by a neighbour.Swan's neighbour told police he went to his house to ask for some ice, but became worried when Swan did not answer his calls.
The neighbour said he used a spare key which Swan had given to him to get in the house, and found Swan.Police were contacted and Swan was pronounced dead on the scene by a district medical officer.Investigators said that shortly before midday, Swan returned home and complained to a relative that he had been in a fight with another man.Police said Swan identified his attacker to his relative as a man from Sawmill Avenue, Barataria. Police are searching for the suspect.
The post-mortem performed yesterday by forensic pathologist Dr Valery Alexandrov found that Swan died as a result of blunt force trauma to his skull and intracranial hemorrhaging. In a brief telephone interview, Alexandrov said he believed that Swan's injuries were inflicted between eight to 12 hours before his death. The pathologist opined that the injuries were inflicted with a fist.Homicide detectives are probing Swan's murder.
