Polls cards were not delivered to large numbers of people in the some districts in the San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporation ahead of today's local government elections.
This caused several mix-ups and confusion as some electors, unsure of where they had to vote, ended up going to the wrong polling stations.
Laventille East/Morvant MP Donna Cox, who cast her ballot at the polling station on the Angostura compound, Laventille, shortly after midday, said she had received several complaints from electors and workers at her constituency office.
"We spent a lot of time checking with the EBC on behalf of people who complained that they didn't get their poll cards and didn't know where to vote," she said.
There were reports of other minor incidents at polling stations for the corporation, which covers areas ranging from St Ann's, Cascade and Belmont to Aranguez, Laventille and Beetham Gardens.
In one incident at the St Barb's Government Primary School, there were objections after a deaf mute young woman was accompanied into the voting booth by a relative.
It was felt that the young woman did not have any impediments to voting on her own and the matter was reported to the EBC.
There was low voter turnout throughout the day, particularly during the morning, when there was rain. Voting picked up in the afternoon but, according to reports, at several polling stations it never got beyond a trickle.
