Police have launched a manhunt for a 33-year-old Erin father who was kidnapped from his home yesterday morning in what police believe was a reprisal for a shooting last Wednesday.Reports said Satesh Sieunarine was at his Danhai Avenue, Buenos Ayres home with his wife and two sons around 3 am when three men barged into the house and dragged him out of bed.
He was taken to the front porch where the men severely beat him before returning to the bedroom, where they tied his wife's hands and feet with electrical cords and then pushed her under the bed.The men then ransacked the house, stealing a gold chain and pendant, and a gold bracelet valued at $6,800. The boys, aged five and three, were not harmed, police said.Sieunarine was bundled in to his Nissan Sunny B-14 and the men made off with him. Up to late yesterday police and relatives had not found him or his kidnappers.
A senior police officer told the T& T Guardian the kidnapping may be linked to Wednesday's shooting of Icacos fisherman Candy Edwards.Edwards, 31, Sieunarine's brother-in-law , was fishing near Soldado Rock, off Icacos with 53-year-old Oma Maharaj when a boat with five Spanish-speaking men approached them. The foreigners began to shoot at the boat and Edwards was shot twice in the right arm.He was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
