Police arrest man in fatal stabbing

Police have arrested a suspect in the stabbing death of Kareem Stra­ker, 24, who was killed while liming at the Uni­ver­sal Bar, off the Western Main Road, St James, shortly after 1 am on Saturday morning Police said the man was arrested shortly after he and Straker were involved in a fight. During the altercation, the man stabbed Straker several times, following which he fled the scene. Straker, who lived in Barataria, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Port-of-Spain Gen­eral Hospital.

 

 

Homicide detectives are also investigating the murder of able seaman Kellon John who was shot dead near his home on Friday night. Police said the 34-year-old was shot after three gunmen stormed a lime outside his home in Bourg Mulatresse, San Juan, and opened fire. The shooting took place around 11.10 pm, police said.  Another man, Anthony Alexander, was wounded in the incident. Autopsies are to be performed on both men today at the Forensic Sciences Centre, St James.
