One man is dead and several injured after a road traffic incident Monday night.
Around 7.15 pm on Monday, Petrotrin employee Gary Sookdeo was driving his vehicle along Union Road, Marabella, when he lost control of the vehicle, hitting three pedestrians who were waiting for transportation to take them home.
Sookdeo is believed to have suffered a heart attack, when his car crashed into Fen Mohammed's Store. An autopsy is expected to be done today.
Sookdeo, 44 of Benlomand Village, Williamsville, died on the spot.
The injured pedestrians were taken to the San Fernando General Hospital. Their injuries are not life threatening, medical sources said.
Police said Sookdeo also hit two utility poles.
Senior Superintendent Cecil Santana and other officers are continuing investigations.
