Problem: Edan Naziam Ghany from Cunupia wrote to the Guardian Angel to highlight his plight with the National Insurance Board.Mr Ghany said, "I contributed to the national insurance scheme during my working career. On becoming 60 years of age in 2008, I filed my retirement claim at the San Fernando Service Centre."Mr Ghany said his claim was still to be determined even after five years of waiting. He said he had made over 690 contributions but only received two small interim payments from NIB.
"I have made numerous visits to the San Fernando office. I even went to the head office and all I am told is that they are investigating."
Solution: Mr Ghany's complaint was forwarded to NIB and was successfully processed. NIB said Mr Ghany should receive his money by the next benefit payment cycle.
