Five men remain warded at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital after they were shot on Thursday night while standing on lower George Street, in East Port-of-Spain. The men, who are from Port-of-Spain, Laventille and Morvant are: Evans Friday, 62; Lindon Samuel, 55; Gerard Manswell, 41; Lennox Lucas, 59, and Carlos Thompson, 58.
Three men approached them and began shooting, police reports stated. The shooting took place around 10 pm. Thompson was shot twice in the back as he tried to escape while the others were hit in their legs and feet. After the shooting, the gunmen ran to Independence Square, where they robbed 60-year-old Virginia Bruce of her AD Wagon. As Bruce was about to get into her car, which was parked near Back To Basics Grocery, the three men accosted her and sped off in her car.
