La Horquetta shooting takes murder toll to 27
A 19-year-old La Horquetta man is the latest murder victim after he was shot dead on Wednesday night. His death has taken the murder toll to 27 for the year. Jabari Thompson, of Evans Reece Street, Phase 4, La Horquetta, and his brother, Gerald, were with a group of men liming at the corner of Evans Reece and Farrel Streets, La Horquetta, shortly before 10 pm when the group were attacked.
Police said a white Mitsubishi Lancer pulled up and two armed men got out and began shooting. The group scattered and the gunmen chased the brothers, cornering Jabari in a neighbour’s yard before shooting him dead. Gerald was shot in the left leg. Police said Thompson was well known to them and suspect the shooting was gang-related.
