Sparrow to sing for Karl in NY
Calling from a New York rehabilitation centre Sparrow extended condolences yesterday to the family of Karl Hudson-Phillips. He said: “We knew each other from way back, before Independence. Like the friendship I had with Dr Eric Williams, Karl and I were very close. The three of us shared the same dreams, that of gaining Independence and making Trinidad and Tobago a strong and prosperous nation.
“Karl and I were like family. He looked after my wife and family when I was not around. “Now that I am recovering and ready to return home and to the stage I am saddened by Karl’s passing. For my show in New York this month-end I will sing The Lord’s Prayer in memory of my dear departed friend and brother. “I offer my sincere condolences to Karl’s family and all of T&T.” (PRB)
