A popular soca artiste, who allegedly exposed himself to two women, including a police officer, is under investigation for a series of similar offences. The acts were reportedly committed at the Palmiste Park, off San Fernando, in early January.According to a police source, the soca artiste from St Augustine was questioned by San Fernando detectives on suspicion of stalking two women at Palmiste Park on January 2. It was alleged that the soca star was at a nearby music studio, when around 5 pm that day, he went to the park.
There he encountered two women, including the senior policewoman, who were jogging. The artiste, it is reported, began following the women and displayed lewd and suggestive behaviour around them. The officer, who recognised him, reportedly warned the artiste to desist from such behaviour or else the police would have to formally intervene. However, the artiste ignored the warning and continued to follow the women for a distance and at one point, allegedly pulled his pants down to his knees and exposed himself.
A report was made to the San Fernando police and the artiste was held at the nearby recording studio where he was questioned. On tracing the artiste's vehicle registration number, police discovered that several similar complaints had been made against him.The artiste, who has already released two soca singles for 2014 and has signed on with one of the mobile service providers, for the Carnival season, is yet to be arrested but police said they are making strides in their investigation.
A source at the music studio did not deny police coming to the business place to question the suspect, but declined to comment.
