Police have classified the death of a seven-months pregnant Sangre Grande woman as suicide.An autopsy done yesterday by pathologist Hughvon Des Vignes at the Forensic Science Centre, in St James revealed that Iemeeliah Goumel slit her wrist.As he body went into shock, she spontaneously aborted her unborn baby.The last time 21-year-old Youth Training and Employment Partnership Programme (YTEPP) student was seen alive was Monday at her Shepherd Lane, Coalmine, Sangre Grande.
She was expecting her first child.Her decomposing body and that of her seven-month fetus were discovered on Thursday after neighbours complained to the landlord of a stench coming from her apartment.Speaking with members of the media outside the Forensic Science Centre, Goumel's father, Patrick, said his daughter was very friendly and loved to talk.He said that his only child was given everything she wanted and was always smiling and happy.
He added that neighbours said they heard Goumel arguing with a man on Monday.Police were unable to determine the sex of the fetus due to the stage of decomposition. Investigations are continuing.
