Former president Arthur NR Robinson remains hospitalised at the St Clair Medical Hospital and up to late yesterday his condition remained the same.It was reported that Robinson was taken to the private hospital by relatives at approximately 9 pm on Thursday. Robinson has been hospitalised several times in the past few years for conditions such as high blood pressure, glaucoma, as well as heart and prostrate problems.
A phone call to Health Minister Fuad Khan yesterday confirmed that Robinson's condition remained unchanged, and Khan said he had not been apprised of anything further.Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar had also visited Robinson on Friday at the private hospital.She was quoted as saying, "I am very pleased that he acknowledged when I spoke to him. He did not speak, but he nodded his head when I spoke to him."
Robinson served as this country's prime minister from 1986 to 1991 and was the country's third president from 1997 to 2003.
