Two die in Cocorite crash
Two teenagers died early yesterday morning in a vehicular accident near Cocorite. Shortly after 3 am, the driver of a Toyota Hilux van lost control of the vehicle, causing the van to flip several times. The van was at the time transporting seven occupants, five of whom were in the cab of the vehicle while the other two sat in the tray. Vishal Maharaj, 18, and 19-year-old Sunil Mahadeo, the two occupants in the van’s tray, both of Chin Chin Road, Cunupia, sustained serious injuries and died on the scene.
The driver and other passengers in the cab suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital where they were treated and discharged yesterday. Police say the driver of the vehicle was yesterday assiting with investigations.
