Police have detained a 31-year-old suspect and recovered the stolen items following the hijacking of a delivery van in Valsayn on Wednesday.According to reports, shortly before 6 am, Michael Hosein of Pasea, Tunapuna, a delivery driver employed with Marketing and Distribution was driving the company's ten-tonne truck along the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway when he stopped along the shoulder near to the walkover at Spring Village, Curepe, to pick up his co-worker.As 21-year-old loader Justin Sookdeo, of Stella Street, Curepe, got into the truck, a white Nissan Tiida pulled in front of the truck, blocking its path, police said.
Two men got out of the car, drew guns, and forced the two workers into the back of the truck which had almost $130,000 in food and household items. The workers hands and feet were bound with duct tape and they were blindfolded.The two workers told police they were taken to a warehouse where the boxes of goods were removed from the truck and they along with the truck were abandoned along Hosein Street, Aranguez. The two workers were not harmed.The two employees, told police that they managed to free themselves after several hours and reported the matter to the St Joseph Police.
