Police have arrested a 25-year-old Point Fortin man who was armed with an illegal Smith and Wesson revolver with one round of live ammunition.The man, of #1 Pangola Road, Point Fortin is expected to appear before a San Fernando magistrate tomorrow morning to answer firearm and ammunition charges.Police reports state that around 11.45pm Friday PC Watson, PC George and PC Teesdale when to Carlton Lane, San Fernando when they stopped the 25-year-old man and searched him.
The officers found a Smith and Wesson revolver containing one live round .38 ammunition. The man was arrested and taken to San Fernando police station. He is expected to be charged and taken before a magistrate tomorrow morning.
Labourer charged for possession of live iguana
An Erin labourer, who was arrested with a live iguana, will appear before a Siparia magistrate tomorrow morning charged with having the protected animal in his possession.Police reports stated that on Friday around 5pm officers, led by PC Tajoo, were on patrol along Thomas Trace, Erin when they observed the man behaving suspiciously.As the officers approached the man, who also lives at Thomas Trace, he began to run.
Officers gave chase and held him a short distance away.They found the live iguana in knapsack he had with him.The officers have the live iguana at station, which will be taken to court as evidence. The hunting of wildlife is illegal, Environment Minister Ganja Singh has instituted a two-moratorium on hunting.
