There has been a drastic reduction in the number of cases involving children charged with serious criminal offences, according to the Child Protection Unit of the T&T Police Service.

Three arrested in police exercises
Three people were arrested for possession of an illegal firearm, ammunition and marijuana in the Western Division following a police exercise in the area on Saturday. The exercise which was spearheaded by Sgt Perry began at 3 am and ended at midday.
Police reports are that officers, which included members of the Western Division Task Force, K9 Unit and the Inter Agency Task Force, executed a search warrant at a house at Upper Mercer Road, Diego Martin, where they arrested a 25 year-old man and a 38 year-old woman for possession of a 9mm extended magazine, a 9mm firearm, 12 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, a Glock 19 magazine, an SLR magazine with 20 rounds of 7.62 ammunition and a Smith and Wesson magazine. PC Pantin is conducting enquiries on that matter.
At a house at Le Platte Village, Maraval, officers arrested a 24-year-old man with a quantity of marijuana. WPC Riley is investigating that matter.
