Double homicide in Valencia brings murder toll to 128
The killing of two people, a man and his common-law wife, in Valencia yesterday brought the homicide count for one day in the east to five.
Earlier in the morning Barry Karimath was found dead with his two toddlers in a Matura pumpkin field. They were poisoned and police suspect it is a case of murder/suicide. Around 11 am, residents of Valencia Old Road, Valencia, heard gunshots near an abandoned vegetable stall in the area and saw a blue car with three male occupants speeding away.
The victims, Tristan Proudfoot, of Mark Trace, Valencia, and Nerissa Phillip, 21, were found dead in the shed. Phillip of south had been living with Proudfoot. She had gunshot wounds to her head and right hand and Proudfoot, his head and chest. Police believe the murders stemmed from an altercation Proudfoot had with a man. Investigations are continuing. The murder toll for the year now stands at 128.
