A 14-year-old Laventille girl was among five people appearing before a Princes Town Justice of the Peace yesterday on arms and ammunition charges.Yesterday the teen was granted $60,000 bail, with her mother as surety, when she appeared, together with Vishal Sookraj, 36, of La Romaine; Kenyatta Vincent, 26, of Mon Repos; Brendon Fourillier, 32, of Cocoyea and Ornella Wankin, 24, charged with the April 22 offence. The five appeared before JP Jacqueline Sargeant in the Princes Town First Court.
They were jointly charged with having 61 rounds of 9mm ammunition and an Astra pistol in their possession in San Fernando on April 22.Sargeant did not entertain bail for the other four charged with the teenager. She remanded them into custody. The four will reappear in court on Tuesday.The five were arrested last Tuesday after police received a report that a man was seen holding a gun in the backseat of a black Nissan B-12 car.The officers intercepted the car at New Grant Junction, following a chase along the Naparima/Mayaro Road.
