PNM PRO Faris Al-Rawi, who won the highest total of votes in the PNM’s internal election last Sunday, got more than his leader Keith Rowley, according to final results. Numbers released by PNM’s Balisier House yesterday reflected in full last Sunday’s election trend that Team Rowley beat all Team Penny candidates by a landslide. Team Penny candidates all scored just over 1,000 votes, while Team Rowley candidates scored in the ”teens“ of thousands,

Rowley totalled 18,121 votes to leadership challenger Pennelope Beckles-Robinson’s 1,315. However, Team Rowley’s Al-Rawi got 18,228 votes, 107 more than Rowley. Team Rowley’s Anthony Garcia also won a total of 18,167 vote, 46 more than Rowley. The lowest figure on Team Rowley’s side was treasurer Raymond Tim Kee’s 17,387. He beat former treasurer Mariano Browne for the post.

Browne totalled 1,583 votes, the most among opposers of Team Rowley’s slate and more than anyone on Team Penny’s slate. Team Penny contestants — Ronald Boynes, Marva Bostic-Bellamy, Joanne Lima Neaves, Clifford Campbell, Jamal Martin and Dr Bose Sharma (in that order) — all scored higher than their leader Beckles-Robinson. Independent candidate Cecil Koylass dropped out, the PNM said.
