Homicide detectives are searching for the owner of a pair of female slippers which was left in the front passenger seat of a crashed car in which Hazzir Mohammed's body was found with a single bullet wound to the face, on Wednesday night.Police suspect he might have been in the company of the woman, who may hold the key to the murder, as Mohammed's body was found with a sex-toy (a dildo) strapped to his body.Mohammed, 48, a store administrator at Hi-Lo's Marabella branch, was found dead shortly after 11 pm behind the steering wheel of his white Nissan Sunny B15.
Police said in addition to the sex toy he was wearing, several others were found in his car.The officers are speculating that robbery was a possible motive for the killing as money was also found scattered all over the car. They suspect the killer grabbed some of the money before running off.Marabella police were called out to investigate an accident in which a car crashed into a utility pole on St James Street. However, when Cpl Bahadur and other officers responded, they found Mohammed's body in the car with a gunshot wound to the face.Led by ASP Jaffar, Insp Gajadhar and Insp Mohammed, they found Mohammed wearing the sex toy, adding to their suspicion he was with a female companion.
His body was viewed by the DMO Dr Parmanand and taken to the Forensic Science Centre, St James, for an autopsy.Relatives said Mohammed had a girlfriend, who lived at Marabella, but she was not well known to them.At his San Francique Road home in Fyzabad, Mohammed's father, Abdool Rojan Mohammed, 71, sat dejectedly on his front porch as family and friends tried to console him.Already suffering with a heart condition and hearing impairment, Abdool was not told of the circumstances surrounding his son's death."Police came around 1.30 am and my brother came and told me my son dead and then they came back and told me he was shot."Well, I was in shock. I couldn't do anything. I just sat down and started to cry," Abdool said.
The death was a harsh blow for Abdool, who said his son was his sole caregiver. Abdool said his wife, Basheroon, died of cancer two years ago and Mohammed, his only son, took care of him. He said he was now alone.
