Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan joins COP internal elections race

The fol­low­ing is­the full text of ame­dia re­lease from­chair­man of the Con­gress of the Peo­ple (COP) Car­olyn Seep­er­sad-Bachan dat­ed June 5th. This came af­ter COP founder and for­mer leader, Win­ston Dook­er­an, is­sued a me­dia re­lease on June 3rd en­dors­ing her to con­test the po­si­tion.

Over the past few days I have been dis­cussing with my fam­i­ly, close friends and mem­bers of the par­ty my po­ten­tial can­di­da­cy for the po­lit­i­cal lead­er­ship of the Con­gress of the Peo­ple (COP). I am thank­ful and en­cour­aged by the over­whelm­ing sup­port I have been re­ceiv­ing.

I have prayed and sought guid­ance on this very im­por­tant life de­ci­sion.

It is with great hu­mil­i­ty that I now an­nounce my de­ci­sion to con­test the po­si­tion of po­lit­i­cal leader of the Con­gress of the Peo­ple (COP).

To­mor­row, Fri­day June 6th 2014, I will file my nom­i­na­tion pa­pers at 12.30pm at Op­er­a­tions Cen­tre, Char­lieville, Ch­agua­nas.

I thank the me­dia, mem­bers of the COP and the wider pub­lic for their pa­tience while I gave due con­sid­er­a­tion to my de­ci­sion.
