Two men were shot dead and one woman stabbed in three separate incidents over the weekend. In the first incident, just after 2 am yesterday, 31-year-old Franz Pierre, of Tragarete Road, Port-of-Spain, was playing cards with three men at Patna Village, Diego Martin. The group was approached by four armed, masked men.
After robbing the card players, the bandits fired several shots at the group. Pierre was killed on the scene while two of the other men were wounded. One was shot in the upper left leg and the other in the lower right leg. The wounded men were taken to the St James Medical Hospital for treatment and transferred to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.In a second incident, a brazen daylight shooting has left 21-year-old Keston John dead.
Police said that around 10.45 am, John was driving his white Almera along the Eastern Main Road, Laventille, when he made a stop on Erica Street, at the Safetec building.The Sunday Guardian visited that scene and was informed that John was in the vehicle with two relatives when men opened fire on them. When the three ran out of the vehicle, John was shot several times. He later died at the scene, while his two relatives escaped without injuries.
While police have said that John is not known to have a criminal record, they are investigating whether John was shot for crossing the borderlines of a gang area.In the third incident, a woman is now said to be fighting for her life after being stabbed in a fight following a boat cruise.
Police reports said that just after 4 am, a woman and a man were sitting in a car near the Pier Two compound, Chaguaramas, after a boat cruise when another woman, identified as Olive Richardson, pulled the woman out of the car by her hair and began beating her.Witnesses pulled the two apart and discovered that Richardson was bleeding from a stab wound to the chest.She was rushed to hospital.Police said the other woman who was taken into custody is assisting them with the investigation.
