Two relatives of Carapo Life Sport boss held
Two close male relatives of Carapo Life Sport co-ordinator Rajaee Ali have been held by police in connection with alleged gang-related activities. The two brothers were arrested at their home in Malabar, Arima, early yesterday morning by members of the Criminal Gang and Intelligence Unit, who were armed with a search warrant to search for arms and ammunition. Although police did not find any illegal weapons the siblings were arrested and would be questioned about a series of offences under the Anti-Gang Act.
Following the arrest of the two brothers, police went to a house in Diego Martin where they arrested two other men connected to Ali’s mosque in Evergreen, Carapo. The four men were being kept in separate cells at the San Juan, Barataria and Central Police Stations up to late last night. Ali, a former murder accused, was arrested in relation to similar offences earlier this year. He was released without being charge, after spending several days in police custody.
