Man drowns off Galeota Point
A Cunupia man drowned after he got into difficulties while swimming off Galeota Point, Mayaro, on Monday.
Police said Peter Rampersad, 50, of Chin Chin Road, went to the beach with a group of friends.
At around 4.15 pm, he was in the water when his friends heard him calling for help.
His friends went to his assistance, pulled him out of the water and performed cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but it was too late.
Rampersad was pronounced dead by a district medical officer.
An autopsy is expected to performed today.
PC Byron of the Mayaro Police Station is investigating.
