Three men charged with having sex with a 13-year-old girl were granted bail totalling $175,000 yesterday.
Rajesh Gangapersad, 19, Kevin Ramnathsingh, 21, and a 17-year-old boy, all construction workers from Debe, appeared in the San Fernando Magistrates Court.
The charge against all three, read to them by Senior Magistrate Nanette Forde-John, was that they had sex with an underage female at Dumfries Road, San Fernando, on Sunday.
Gangapersad was also charged with having sex with the same girl on a date unknown in September 2014 in another area in San Fernando.
The 17-year-old was represented by attorney Saira Lakhan who held for attorney Marissa Bubb while attorney Martin Jadoonanan represented the other two men.
Court prosecutor Cleyon Seedan confirmed that the men were never charged with a criminal offence.
In the circumstances, the magistrate granted them bail but on the condition that they stay 500 metres from the victim and that they have no contact with her, either physical, mobile, landline, social media, letter or the place where she lives, worships, recreates, goes to school or work.
Gangapersad was granted $75,000 bail while Ramnathsingh and the teenager were granted $50,000 bail each.
The teenagers' parents were in court. The matter was adjourned to February 26.
