Political Leader of the Movement for Social Justice David Abdulah says the UNC is selling T&T's crown jewels in order to win an election.
In a media release yesterday, Abdulah said: "They are giving away state lands and funds to friends, family and financiers like SIS and Kall Co.
"This is a terrible injustice.
"The people of T&T were being dispossessed of their patrimony."
He said the MSJ would address this and other injustices at its Forum, "Initiating Action towards the Second Republic," today at Preysal Secondary School, as it launches its campaign T&T Needs Justice!
Abdulah said the MSJ wanted to draw national attention to the UNC's ongoing attempts to sell off the national patrimony to private interests.
He said another attack on the farmers of Guave Road in Chaguaramas took place on Friday.
Abdulah said CDA's contractors, Kall Co, went in with machinery and destroyed more crops.
He said Planning Minister Dr Bhoe Tewarie and the CDA were intent on building a multi-level car park in Guave Road and on constructing a major road through the food-producing land.
Abdulah said farmers were being dispossessed of their land and livelihood, even as the country faced food insecurity and a foreign exchange shortage.
He said another instance of the UNC government's intent to sell off the country's patrimony was the Initial Purchase Offer (IPO) of shares in Phoenix Park Gas Processors.
Abdulah said this company became a fully-owned subsidiary of the National Gas Company only recently.
He said Phoenix Park was a highly-profitable company.
Abdulah said there was no reason to sell it except that the UNC Government wanted to raise as much money as possible to finance the budget deficit, spend on more Cepep jobs, and start various white elephant projects, all in an effort to win the 2015 general election.
