A six-month-old baby was killed after she was thrown from a car in Sangre Grande on Friday night.Her mother, the driver and twin sibling survived, police said.Police said the accident took place at the intersection of Adventist Street and Ramdass Street. The injured baby, identified as Monifa Prevatt, was taken to Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, but was pronounced dead on arrival after being transferred from the Sangre Grande District Hospital.
According to police reports, Kenneth Rampersad was driving his Toyota Fielder west along Adventist Street and collided with a Nissan Navara driven by Dianne Baptiste at the intersection around 8.28 pm.The other occupants of both vehicles were taken to the Sangre Grande District Hospital where they were treated and discharged.
Police said Rampersad, Leona Prevatt and her children, Imani and Monifa, were returning to their Mafeking Village, Mayaro home after a family outing.
