Housing Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal claims that Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley had a deal with political leader of the Independent Liberal Party (ILP) Jack Warner which was to prevent Warner from being extradited to the US where he is facing several charges for money laundering and racketeering.
Moonilal was addressing supporters at the UNC's Monday Night Forum at the Guaico Government Secondary School, Sangre Grande.
"Now Rowley depending on a fella named Jack Warner to go to the electorate and every week is bacchanal one...two, three, four. That is Jack Warner.
"In fact, Rowley has a deal with Jack Warner. Tonight we ask Keith Rowley to tell us whether he has a deal with Jack Warner to prevent him from being extradited to the United States?" Moonilal said.
He also attacked the PNM's campaign, saying it had collapsed.
"He (Rowley) went America the other day begging some Americans to come to Trinidad to help him powder up for the camera....this will be his fifth makeover and every time they do a makeover it is worse than the last one," Moonilal added.
Former MP for Toco/Sangre Grande Rupert Griffith also announced his intention to step down from politics, saying the time had come to pave the way for the younger generation.
Thanking residents "from the bottom of his heart" Griffith told the audience he tried to address all their issues and also asked them to embrace their new candidate.
"I will be having this public conversation with you, perhaps for the last time, as your most recent parliamentary report. However, part of this conversation will be to stand down so that a new candidate could come forward to build on the past five years of exemplary work done in Toco/Sangre Grande.
"Even gentlemen like myself who have part of this political landscape can always learn something new," Griffith said.
He said while in office he had come to understand that it was always essential to put public office before self.
"People and country first and knowing what the time comes to stand down so that the younger generation can step into the leadership," Griffith added.
Sport Minister Brent Sancho, who was announced as the new candidate for Toco/Sangre Grande, said he grew in humble beginning in Belmont, adding that his biggest asset was his hard work and his dedication to sports.
Sancho also waded in on Warner saying: "I have stood up to people like Jack Warner when he blacklisted me as I led 19 other players trying to get the money being owed to us. We were threatened and he tried to end our career in sport so that he could line his pockets.
"I never back down," Sancho added.
