A 20-year-old Laventille man was chased by gunmen, shot and as he lay bleeding on the roadway a red bandanna was stuffed in his mouth in what police say is a gang related killing.
Relatives of the deceased, who has been identified as Triston Caesar, of Lastique Street, East Dry River, said he was no gangster or was involved in any criminal activity.According to police reports they received a report of an unidentified man lying in the roadway off Quarry Street, Laventille. He was found around 8.30 pm.
Speaking with the media at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, yesterday Caesar's stepfather Clyde Babb said Caesar was a cook at fast food outlet Jus Grillin on Ariapita Avenue, Port-of-Spain.
Caesar's killing has pushed the murder toll to 373 for the year. For the same period last year there were 364 murders.
