Former PNM government ministers Hedwige Bereaux and Neil Parsanlal have been appointed to head the Palo Seco Agricultural Enterprises Ltd (PSAEL) board and National Library and Information Systems Authority (Nalis) board respectively, Communication Minister Maxie Cuffie said yesterday.
At yesterday's weekly Government media briefing, Cuffie announced a number of new board members.
Parsanlal was communication minister under the past Manning PNM administration, while Bereaux was a one-time Science and Technology minister and deputy Speaker also under that administration.
Also on the Nalis board are Sharlene Phillips (vice-chairman), Emelinda Lara, Pandita, Dr Indrani Rampersad, Lynette Tyson-Noel, Karel Douglas, Jefferson Guy, Cathy-Ann Townsend and Elizabeth Mahadeo (Nalis executive director).
Apart from Bereaux on the PSAEL board are Louis Frederick (vice-chairman), Farrell Philbert, Adrian Jeffers, Aneel Bahadur, Elizabeth Mohammed and Gita Rampersad.
Also announced was a new board for the College of Science, Technology and the Applied Arts of T&T (Costaatt). Its chairman is Sheldon Cyrus. Cyrus was NFM's CEO in 2005 and also worked at other periods with TTEC and TTPost.
Other Costaatt board members are Kathleen Singh (vice-chairman), S Barry Kelsick, Janine Knaggs, Dr Rita Pemberton, Glen Khan, Kaska St Hilaire, Sanjay Garth Bahadoorsingh and Jennifer Boucaud-Blake.
Cuffie said Government has also reduced the number of permanent secretaries at the Finance Ministry's B class from two to one while the second PS will be in C class.
Cuffie confirmed Forestry Division workers had been paid following their recent protest which was due to "procedural issues and allocation of funds," which were worked out.
