Brian Manning, one of the sons of former prime minister Patrick Manning, has called on the Government to set up a development fund in his father's name to provide housing for low-income earners across the region.

During the eulogy, Brian said his father was his hero and a man who loved people.

"That was reflected in his many policies," he said to hundreds of mourners who packed the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Port-of-Spain.

Brian said he was honoured to call Manning his father.

Among those who gave tributes at the service were St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, President Anthony Carmona, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and Pastor Luke Quamina.

Gonsalves said Manning was his "real brethren" and recalled fond memories of them together at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus.

He said Manning died with his honor in tact, his character unblemished, and life work meritorious and rightly celebrated.
