Cuban Embassy opens condolence book for Castro

The Em­bassy of Cu­ba in T&T, from to­day, will al­low the pub­lic to sign a con­do­lence book to ho­n­our the pass­ing of the Leader of Cuban Rev­o­lu­tion Fi­del Cas­tro.

Cas­tro, who served as Cu­ba's pres­i­dent for 42 years, died of nat­ur­al caus­es in Cu­ba last Fri­day, at the age of 90.

Cas­tro led the Cuban Rev­o­lu­tion against the gov­ern­ment of Ful­gen­cio Batista, which trig­gered a bit­ter stand-off be­tween the Unit­ed States and Cu­ba that re­sult­ed in the US im­pos­ing a trade em­bar­go on Cu­ba.

In a press re­lease yes­ter­day, the Em­bassy ex­pressed its pro­found sad­ness and re­gret at Cas­tro's death.

It al­so in­formed the na­tion­al pop­u­la­tion that the con­do­lence book will be opened for sign­ing at its premis­es at 74 Elm Ave, Bayshore, West­moor­ings, un­til De­cem­ber 4.

Sign­ing of the book will take place to­day from 2 pm to 6 pm.

How­ev­er, from to­mor­row, the pub­lic can sign the book from 9 am to 6 pm.
