A taxi driver suspected of abducting and raping a Special Reserve Woman Police Constable (WPC) is expected to be put on an identification parade after being arrested on election night.
According to reports, the man was held late on Monday evening after the matter was reported to the Oropouche Police Station.
The WPC had reportedly left her South Trinidad home around 3 am on Monday to take up duty at a polling station for Monday's Local Government elections. She told officers she was the sole passenger in the man's taxi.
The man allegedly drove to a gas station and away from the polling station where the WPC asked to be dropped off.
He took her to a secluded area where he raped her at gunpoint. The WPC fought with him and as she ran off he allegedly fired two bullets at her but missed.
Oropouche police are continuing investigations.
