Mother of victim vows vengeance

Couple murdered in bed

To the murderers who barged into the home of Luenda Anthony and her boyfriend, Rickey Mohammed, they should seek God's forgiveness as there will be none coming from Anthony's mother Nicole Anthony.

Angered and saddened over the brazen deaths, Nicole vowed that retribution would be hers after seeing Anthony's bloodied body on a bed and Mohammed dying next to her.

"You all just pray and ask God for forgiveness because it is only He who will forgive you. I am not forgiving you all," Nicole said as she sat outside their Cochrane Village, Guapo home. Up to midday yesterday, blood remained on the sheets and the walls of the bedroom where the couple slept.

Around 12.15 am, gunmen broke down the door at the wooden house and shot Anthony, 29, once in the head and Mohammed, 39, twice in his head.

Nicole said she heard the gunshots and after calling out to Anthony, she heard moaning.

On entering the room, she saw her daughter, a security officer with Amalgamated Security Services Ltd, lying dead on the bed, with Mohammed faintly saying, "call the ambulance."

Mohammed, a PH taxi driver and part-time worker at the Point Fortin Borough Corporation died while being taken to the Point Fortin Area Hospital. He had three children with his estranged wife.

Anthony, who was stationed at the Licensing Office in Point Fortin, also worked at KFC, Point Fortin on weekends.

Nicole said the only problem she knew Mohammed had was a dispute with a relative over a house in Point Fortin that his deceased mother left. She said the relative lived downstairs while Mohammed occupied the upper floor.

In a message to her daughter's killers, she said: "God does not sleep. How you killed my child, you all are going to die slowly but surely. You can't tell me that you as a human being will watch a woman and a man on a bed sleeping, and shoot them in their heads.

That means you don't have God, you do not have any mothers, you do not have any sisters, nieces, cousins or any family who are girls. You were not born of a woman, to watch my child and kill her and her man. That is wrong, it is demonical. I am going to pray for you all, that is the most I am going to do, but I know you all are going to die."

A small packet of marijuana was found in the track leading to the house which is believed to have from the killers, police said.

It was reported that a car was seen driving around the area around 10 pm on Monday night, however, no one took caution.

Recently, Anthony's car was stolen and retrieved in Carenage. Investigators were unsure whether there was a link to the murders.

She was thankful that Anthony's nine-year-old daughter slept with her in an adjoining apartment when the gunmen came. She said it will be a struggle to tell her granddaughter that her mother was killed.
