The man found with his head and hands severed in Arima last Saturday has been identified as 24-year-old Christopher Khan.
Khan was identified by the tattoo on the chest, which read "What is a king without a crown?"
Shortly before noon on Saturday, Khan's body was found only in a black boxer shorts in a ravine near Edna Hill, Arouca. He was yesterday identified by his relatives, who were too distraught to speak and only identified Khan by name and age.
In an unrelated incident, police are investigating the shooting death of 27-year-old father of two Keston "Dada" Joseph.
Police said they received a call just after midnight yesterday and responded to a shooting at Seventh Avenue, Malick, but saw no one. Crime Scene Investigators then pointed out what appeared to be brain matter on the ground and officers began searching hospitals for recent gunshot victims and was informed of Joseph's death at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
Police said they were told a gunman opened fire at a group of men near a house party and Joseph was fatally shot, while another man was injured and was warded at the Eric Williams Medical Complex, Mt Hope.
His distraught relatives said the contraction worker was shot twice before in 2012 and 2015 and survived both attacks.
In another incident which has not been classified, police are investing the death of a Trincity man who was found in a drain in Tunapuna yesterday morning. According to police reports ,around 8 am they were contacted about the discovery at the back of the ASJA Girls' College. The man was later identified as Enrico Penco, 67. Police said there were lacerations on his face and upper body, but believe he may have sustained the injuries after falling into the drain.
To date the murder toll stands at 54, four more than last year at this stage.
