Mandiero Peri Peri Grill yesterday reopened its doors to the public at MovieTowne, Invaders Bay, Port-of-Spain.
It is the food establishment where Jamilia DeRevenaux, 27, was at work on Sunday when she was called outside and brutally murdered by a close male friend, who slashed her throat.
When the T&T Guardian visited the business yesterday, the cashier identified herself as the supervisor but said "they were instructed not to talk to the media" about the incident.
There were extra surveillance cameras fitted inside and outside the food place, which were installed on Monday afternoon. On the outside, in the north side car park, a large section was cordoned off with "caution" tape as work crews were seen installing additional surveillance cameras. There was also a heavy security presence yesterday, as officers from Telecom Services were seen carrying out frequent mobile and foot patrols throughout the car parks and compound.
Speaking with the T&T Guardian, mall visitor Vanessa Samuel said she felt safer compared to other days.
"I knew of the terrible killing but I am here today and I feel very safe to see security officers everywhere I turn."
Ronald Singh said while he was not highly concerned at what had happened, he was concerned over crime in the country.
"Too many killings, shootings, robberies and violence against women and all this madness has to stop. This place needs prayers," he said.
Officers investigating DeRevenaux's killing said they had leads but were yet to find the suspect up to last evening.
Funeral arrangements were not disclosed to the T&T Guardian yesterday.
Investigations are continuing.
