Penal police that although there was communication that the 35-year-old labourer wanted to surrender, there was no sighting of him anywhere.

Officers said there were extensive searches in the Penal area and at his relatives home but without success. However, they said the search continues this week in new areas.

Around 9.30 pm on November 5, Roopnarine and Harripersad were walking along the Penal Rock Road, Penal with their two sons, Brandon, nine and Darion, five. They had just left relatives’ home when they were struck from behind by a silver Nissan Tiida. The driver sped off. Brandon and Darion were not hit as they had walked ahead.

Police was alerted that a 44-year-old teacher took to car to a repair shop the day after the accident. She was arrested but released after two days. Investigators said the teacher’s boyfriend had borrowed the car and was returning it when he crashed into the couple. After reaching the teacher’s home, the suspect told her that he got into an accident and apparently went into hiding.

Sgt Ramsaran is continuing investigations.
