Accused child molestor on $80,000 bail
A 34-year-old man from Belmont has been granted $80,000 bail after appearing in court charged with molesting a 13-year-old girl.
Michael Paul, of Upper St Francois Valley Road, Belmont, appeared before Magistrate Adia Mohammed in the Port-of-Spain Magistrates Court on two charges of sexual touching against a minor.
The offences are alleged to have occurred in February, this year.
As conditions of his bail, Paul was ordered to refrain from directly or indirectly contacting the victim and was told to stay 500 metres away from her.
Paul was charged by acting Cpl Yohan Mc Kain, of the Port-of-Spain Child Protection Unit. Paul will reappear in court on December 14.
In a press release issued yesterday, the T&T Police Service (TTPS) praised the zero-tolerance approach taken by the unit, which is led by Insp Clement Marshall and Sgts Jacqueline Solomon-Patrice and Michelle Lewis.
