Port update onT&T Express today
The Port Authority is promising to provide an update on the return of the T&T Express to the seabridge today. The vessel was pulled from the inter-island seabridge last week because of rough sea conditions, according to the port. But there was subsequent confirmation that the vessel could not sail because it had failed to get an extension of its Class certificates because work which was recommended to have been done on the vessel last December was not done.
Yesterday, the Port issued an advisory to passengers with confirmed tickets to Tobago they will continue to be accommodated on Caribbean Airlines (CAL) today and that seats will be provided at no extra cost to the passenger. Ferry passengers pay $100 for a return ticket while an airline flight costs $300 return. Both tickets are subsidised by the State. CAL increased the number of flights over the last week to accommodate the ferry passengers.
Passengers with confirmed tickets to Tobago for today can check in at the Port-of-Spain Ferry Terminal from 7 am to be accommodated on the 9.35 am flight. Passengers with confirmed tickets to Trinidad can check-in at the Scarborough Passenger Terminal from 4 am. PTSC shuttles will take ferry passengers to the respective airports at no extra cost. The vehicles of passengers with confirmed tickets will be accommodated on the daily sailing of the MV Cabo Star at 2 pm from Port-of-Spain and at 11 pm from Scarborough.
