Homicide officers were kept busy overnight on Friday as they carried out investigations into two separate incidents in which three people were killed.
The murders occurred in Arima and Port-of-Spain.
In Port-of-Spain, the deceased were identified as Latrell Daniel of Pelican Extension, Morvant, and Jamal Etienne, 32, of Upper St Barbs Road, Laventille.
Around 10:42 pm, David and Etienne were seated in a white Nissan B15, PBY 3025, which was parked along the eastern side of Piccadilly Street in the vicinity of the Green Zone Sports Bar, when they were approached by two masked men who began shooting in their direction.
The driver of the vehicle drove off in a westerly direction along Duke Street, but while proceeding north onto Henry Street, collided with a parked Toyota Altis, PCE 5976.
The men were taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital by police, where they were both pronounced dead.
Crime Scene Investigators recovered ten 9-mm shells at the scene.
In Arima, a 22-year-old man was murdered whilst another one was wounded at a Malabar bar yesterday morning.
Police said officers of the Northern Division received a report of a shooting at Pro Bar, Malabar Extension Road, at about 3.50 am and went to the scene.
They found the body of Zion Butcher, alias “Papi”, at the corner of La Croix and Malabar Extension Road.
A district medical officer visited the scene and declared Butcher dead.
Officers were told that a 45-year-old man was also shot in the attack but was taken to the hospital before police got to the scene.
The wounded man is said to be in stable condition.
Officers of the Special Evidence Recovery Unit visited the scene and found 13 spent 9-mm shell casings.
Police from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Regions I and II are continuing inquiries into both incidents.
