A cannabis eradication exercise in Grand Riviere yesterday, resulted in the discovery and destruction of 700 fully grown marijuana trees.
Official police reports confirm that the exercise was conducted between the hours of 11 am and 3 pm on Monday 1st February 2021. It was coordinated by Senior Supt Aguilal and supervised by Sgt Scipio and Ag Sgt Fredrick.
The Police Service reports officers of the Matelot Police post received information which led them to a location some 30 metres off the Paria Main Road, in the vicinity of Grand Riviere. The officers reportedly came upon a wooden, makeshift camp, and upon conducting a search, discovered the 700 fully grown marijuana trees, which are said to have a street value of $350,000.
The officers then piled the trees together and destroyed them.
There were no arrests in connection with the find.
