Five men are scheduled to go before a Sangre Grande Magistrate in a virtual hearing today, after being arrested and charged for attempting to steal a kayak.
The kayak in questioned has been valued at $2,300.
A release from the Police Service reports that 22-year-old MARLON ANTHONY MARINE, 20-year-old BRIAN MATHURA, 24-year-old ANTONIO RAHIM, 20-year-old JAHMALI BONN, and 20-year-old JAMAL PAPONETTE, all have been officially charged with warehouse breaking and larceny.
Reports are that around 5 am on Wednesday 16th December 2020, the Sangre Grande Police Station was alerted to the incident by security personnel tasked with guarding kayaking equipment in Matura.
The security officer reported hearing a loud noise coming from the building. Upon checking the area, he saw five men removing a kayak from the building.
The men, in an attempt to escape, dropped the kayak and entered a nearby vehicle. They were intercepted by officers from the Sangre Grande Station who were responding to the call.
The occupants were detained and later charged for the offence warehouse breaking and larceny.
