Fully grown marijuana trees and seedlings with a street value of $5 million were destroyed during an eradication exercise in Maracas Bay on Monday
Police officers trekked approximately seven miles into a forested area in Maracas where they discovered a marijuana plantation with approximately 5000 fully grown trees and 200 seedlings. The items were subsequently destroyed. No arrests have been made so far in connection with this find.
The exercise was spearheaded by Snr Supt Maharaj, Supt MaynardWilson, and Supt Alexander, supervised by ASP Pariman and Insp. Ramsingh with members of the North Eastern Division CID, North Eastern Division Gang Unit, North Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF) led by Sgt Bharath, Air Support Unit and members of the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit (OCIU).
Investigations are continuing.
