A fatal road traffic accident claimed the life of 46-year-old Rudy Toolsie as he attempted to cross Southern Main Road, Couva.
Reports indicate A frontier Pick-up van driven by Direll Mc Donald, was proceeding west along the Southern Main Road, Couva, around 2:20 am on Saturday.
On reaching the vicinity of ‘Vice City Bar, pedestrian Toolsie of Smith Street, Couva attempted to cross the said roadway from the southern to the north, in front of a parked vehicle on the southern side and walked into the path of McDonald’s vehicle, where he was thrown some distance away on the southern side of the road.
Toolise died at the scene.
A report was recorded by the driver at the Couva Police Station. Police said the vehicle was viewed in the presence of the driver damages noted, and the driver was warned of Intended Prosecution by the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 48:50.
A statement was recorded by McDonald, and he was allowed to leave pending inquiries.
In another unrelated incident last Friday around 2:50 pm o motor vehicle driven by Inspector Kirt Perry of Greenvale, La Horquetta Arima was proceeding north along Clarence Street St James, and on making a right turn onto Anderson Street he observed a black vehicle proceeding north towards him on said Anderson Street and came to a stop. Inspector Perry then heard a crash and felt his vehicle roll forward.
