An ac­ci­dent along the Uri­ah But­ler High­way yes­ter­day morn­ing has claimed the life of a Ch­agua­nas woman. Janelle Arm­strong, 43, of Car­di­nal Cres­cent, Ed­in­burg 500, died at the scene while the two oth­er oc­cu­pants re­ceived in­juries.

Po­lice said around 1 am Vic­tor Per­ri­era was dri­ving a Grey Ford Ranger Dou­ble Cab with Arm­strong in the front seat and An­gel­ic Es­penoza seat­ed in the back.

On reach­ing Guay­mare Vil­lage, along the north­bound lane, a ve­hi­cle struck the Ford Ranger caus­ing it to run off the road and crash in­to a light pole.

Fire­fight­ers used the Jaws of Life to free the pas­sen­gers from the man­gled wreck. The dri­ver and Es­penoza were tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex while a dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer viewed and or­dered the re­moval of Arm­strong's body.

Ch­agua­nas po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.

Mean­while, a Waller­field man died on the spot af­ter his ve­hi­cle cap­sized on the Va­len­cia Stretch yes­ter­day morn­ing. A fe­male oc­cu­pant who was in the ve­hi­cle es­caped with mi­nor in­juries. She was treat­ed and ward­ed at the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal.

A po­lice re­port stat­ed that at around 2:15 am Daniel Williams, of Ja­cob Hill, Waller­field, was dri­ving his ve­hi­cle, a Nis­san Wingroad Wag­on PDT 2017 with a fe­male oc­cu­pant head­ing west along the Va­len­cia Stretch. On reach­ing the vicin­i­ty of the round­about at the Va­len­cia By­pass, he at­tempt­ed to ne­go­ti­ate the cor­ner when he lost con­trol caus­ing the ve­hi­cle to flip sev­er­al times be­fore land­ing on the hood.

Williams's body was found par­tial­ly hang­ing from the ve­hi­cle with his skull cracked open and blood flow­ing. The fe­male oc­cu­pant Re­bec­ca Ali­cia Kerr es­caped with mi­nor in­juries and was rushed to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal by EHS Am­bu­lance.

Dis­trict Med­ical Of­fi­cer, Dr Au­gus­tine or­dered the body re­moved pend­ing an au­top­sy at the EWM­SC.
